Additional Restoration Services

Deep cleaning

$20 – 35

If the machine hasn’t been properly stored, we may charge an additional cleaning fee to remove the buildup of old oil or grease, surface rust, or other debris buildup. Cost depends on the degree of cleaning needed.

Rewiring

$60-85

If the machine is electrical, the wiring and all components will be checked for safety and proper function. Most wiring in old machines needs to be replaced. The cost depends on the machine and materials needed, and materials charges may apply. We are happy to provide a quote before beginning work.

Timing adjustment

$40-65

Timing is checked as part of both the General Maintenance and Restoration services. Cost will depend on the condition of the machine.

Replacement of missing or damaged parts

Varies

Depending on the machine and parts availability, we can source replacement parts for damaged or missing components, including belts, motors, spool pins, internal gears, and bobbin cases. Depending on parts availability, it may take weeks or months to source replacements from our network of suppliers. The costs depend on the part, and we’ll always contact you with options for your machine so there are no surprises.

Additive-manufactured cosmetic parts

Varies

For damaged and missing covers, we can work with 3D printers to create replacements if we can’t source them from our replacement parts network. We do not recommend this for functional parts unless the machine is only for display. These parts will be painted to mimic the original finish, but may not match the original chrome exactly. We are also happy to paint these replacement parts with unique and different finishes. Costs for these parts depend on the complexity of the part and the desired finish.

All functional restoration machine service comes with a free 90-day labor warranty on parts we replace and all labor.  If your machine is not performing properly during this time, we will adjust it or repair it as needed without any additional charge.

Sewing Machine Restoration FAQ

Can you refinish or replace damaged covers and plates on my sewing machine?

It depends on the condition and parts availability. Replating chrome can be done for an additional charge, but it may be expensive. In some cases, you may want to have the piece stripped and painted silver and clear-coated to look like the original chrome. We are happy to discuss options before work begins on your machine.

For rare parts, we may be able to recreate the part with additive manufacturing (ie, 3D printing) if we have the original part to scan, but the material will be more fragile than the original metal. In these cases, we do NOT recommend sewing on the machine with the replacement piece to prevent damage, but rather keeping the machine as a display piece to be enjoyed.
